So, this is Nerd Technologies' first ever production blog. Hopefully not our last, although calling it "01" is probably being a little over-optimistic. Double figures are a long way off yet.
Dudey Joe, and its cleverly-named sequel Dudey Joe 2, are actually two of my favourite Nerd Technologies films.
They're both terrible, there's no denying that, but they're both funny and enjoyable and mercifully short. And there's actually some decent animation in places, too, so that's good.
But there has always been something missing from the Dudey Joe movies: a villain.
In the first film Joe bravely faces a museum, and in the second he braves a tsunami (or rather, a "big wave"), but he's never had a flesh-and-blood enemy before.
Enter Bruce.
"Bruce Allfrighty" is the twisted creation of my brother Jonathan, the original creator of Dudey Joe. He is a sadistic, evil, mutant creature who exists solely to destroy. And Bruce isn't very nice, either!
Animating such a weird, asymmetric character has been quite an enjoyable experience, and production on the film is progressing enthusiastically as a result. Layout and sketching are now complete, with many of the keyframes and a few short sequences also finished. There is no official release date for Episode 3 as yet, but be sure to check back for more information.
Facing a real villain means that Episode 3 will be Joe Ekson's biggest challenge yet. Will he rise to the occasion? We'll have to wait and see.
For now, let us leave you with this rare piece of production art, taken from an original sketch by Jonathan.
